SMART, VCU ATHLETICS SET TO HOST COLLEGE BASKETBALL’S FINEST AT CAP TECH DRIVE

RICHMOND, Va. – This is the time of year where Fridays at work just turn into clock watching, hoping time goes by faster and faster.

VCU Athletics and Head Men's Basketball Coach Shaka Smart are giving you an opportunity to enjoy a Friday with some co-workers out on the links with this week's Cap Tech Drive at Independence Golf Club in Midlothian, Va.

"This is great chance to get out and enjoy time with some phenomenal college basketball minds and our terrific fans and supporters," Smart said. "It's something we're all really looking forward to."

Each foursome will spend 18 holes with some of college basketball's best coaches with the likes of Tubby Smith, Tony Bennett, Seth Greenberg, Oliver Purnell, Steve Lavin, Chris Mack, Buzz Peterson, Dan Munson, Keith Dambrot and possibly Gary Williams all  on the guest list.

The two-day event starts on Thursday, May 12 at 6:30 p.m. with a Cocktail Reception and Silent Auction at the Omni Hotel in Downtown Richmond.

Friday is the day on the links with registration slated for 8:30 and a shotgun start at 10 a.m.

The tournament will be a shamble format and awards will be given out afterwards at another cocktail reception, this time on site at Independence.

There are still slots open for the event, so please check out the full brochure at CapTechDrive.com.
