WHILE AT VCU:
· Huge asset to the Rams off the court as his work ethic has
paid off by him putting on nearly 20 pounds of muscle since
arriving on campus in 2007
· After struggling on the
road for most of 2009-10, the sharp-shooter found his groove in the
final game, pouring in a career-high 27 points in the CBI
Championship victory at Saint Louis on March 31
· Improved his three-point
shooting by nearly 15 percent during his junior year, knocking down
a team-leading 63 three-pointers, while shooting at a 42.3% clip
from beyond the arc
· Extremely valuable on the defensive end with his
lengthy and athleticism which allowed Rozzell to tally at least one
steal in 54 of his 69 games over the past two seasons
· Rozzell has always enjoyed playing in the Siegel Center and
it has showed. Sixteen of his 23 career double-digit performances
have come at home, and he has averaged over nine points a game at
the Siegel Center. That’s more than four points higher than
his average on the road.
· Hard work pays off, and
Rozzell knows that first-hand. He was originally expected to
redshirt during his freshman season, but earned more and more
playing time throughout the year. In the last six games of his
debut season with the Rams, he averaged nearly 20 minutes a game,
4.8 points and 1.3 rebounds.
PRIOR TO VCU:
· Rozzell is no stranger to the Siegel Center, playing in
countless state tournament games at VCU’s arena. The most
memorable moment came in 2007, when he led Highland Springs to a
30-2 record and a AAA State Championship victory in the
building
· During the
Springers’ run to the title, Rozzell poured in 20.6 points,
4.0 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game to earn AAA State Player of
the Year accolades
· The awards for his senior
year kept piling up, including recognition as First-Team
All-District, First-Team All-Region, First-Team All-Metro and MVP
honors of the Tri-City and State All-Star Games
· Rozzell’s talents weren’t limited to
the hardwood as he earned academic honor roll recoginition during
his final two years at Highland Springs
GETTING TO KNOW BRANDON:
· Son of Bridget Askew and Michael Rozzell
· Majoring in Social
Work
· Born on March 27, 1989
