BALL, FOUR FORMER RAMS PLAYING IN US OPEN SECTION QUALIFYING

RICHMOND, Va. – 36 holes. That's all that separates current VCU golf standout Adam Ball, along with four former Rams from the 2014 U.S. Open at Pinehurst Resort in two weeks.

The group of five is part of Sectional Qualifying for the 114th edition of the US Open, the final stage of qualifying for the tournament. All five are at different sites across the country on Monday. Each site will host 36 holes in one day with only the top two or four golfers advancing.

Joining Ball is Ted Brown, Ryan Zylstra, Paul Scaletta and John Rollins.

Adam Ball ('16) (pictured, right) helped lead the 2014 Rams to the Atlantic 10 Championship and will tee off at 7:40 a.m. at Old Oaks Country Club in Purchase, N.Y. There will be 80 players vying for four spots.

Ryan Zylstra ('02) was a member of the 2001 and 2002 CAA Championship squads and will tee off at 8:48 a.m. at Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Md. There will be 59 players vying for four spots.

Paul Scaletta ('98) was a member of the 1997 and 1998 CAA Championship squads and will tee off at 8:35 a.m. at Quail Valley Golf Club in Vero Beach, Fla. There will be 55 players vying for four spots.

John Rollins ('97) turned pro right after leaving VCU and is a three-time winner on the PGA Tour. Rollins is playing at the biggest site with 145 players vying for 13 spots at the Colonial Country Club in Memphis, Tenn.

Ted Brown ('03) is coming off a win this past week on the eGOLF Tour and was part of the 2002 CAA Championship squad. He will be playing the Emerald Valley Golf Course in Creswell, Oregon. There will be 50 players vying for just two spots.
