VCU CLAIMS RVA BRAGGING RIGHTS IN BLACK & BLUE CUP WIN

MANAKIN-SABOT, Va. – Rocky Khara edged Colin McDade 2 and 1 to clinch a 4-3 VCU victory over crosstown rival Richmond in the third annual Black & Blue Cup Sunday at Kinloch Golf Club.

It's the second time in as many days the Rams laid claim to a win over the Spiders. On Saturday, VCU placed second at the River Landing Intercollegiate in Wallace, N.C., while Richmond was eighth.

On Sunday, VCU received wins from freshmen Hanish Nagrani (4 and 2 over David Germann) and Enej Sarkanj (4 and 3 over Mark Reilly), as well as a victory by sophomore Steffen Harm over J.D. Sanderson (6 and 5).

The victory was VCU's second straight in this annual event. Richmond claimed the inaugural Black & Blue Cup in 2012.

Sunday's contest was VCU's final tune-up prior to the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship, which will take place April 25-27 at the Heron Bay Golf Club in Coral Springs, Fla. The Rams were named the unanimous favorite in the A-10 preseason coaches poll.
