MANAKIN-SABOT, Va. – The Virginia Commonwealth University golf team is set to host the ninth annual Golf Galaxy VCU Shootout Sept. 23-24 at Hermitage Country Club.
Joining the Rams in an exciting 12-team field will be Central Connecticut State, George Mason, George Washington, James Madison, Iowa State, Maryland, Old Dominion, Radford, Richmond, UNC Greensboro and Virginia Tech, ranked 36th nationally by Golfweek.
Both team champion Virginia Tech, as well as the two most recent individual champions, Sean Bosdosh of Maryland (2012) and Scott Fernandez of Iowa State (2011) return to the field in 2013.
VCU, led by U.S. Amateur Championship quarterfinalist Adam Ball, is coming off a strong showing at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate Sept. 14-15, where the Rams played fifth among a highly competitive field. Senior Matt Ball Jr. placed seventh for VCU.
Players will tee off on Hermitage's par 72, 6,955-yard layout at 8:45 a.m. on Monday with a shotgun start. There will be 36 holes of play Monday, followed by the tournament's final round on Tuesday. Live scoring for the tournament will be available at Golfstat.com.
