RICHMOND, Va. – Virginia Commonwealth University senior Chase Sargent (Orlando, Fla.) was named Colonial Athletic Association Co-Golfer of the Week Thursday, an honor he will share with Tyler Gruca of Georgia State.

Sargent and Gruca tied for fifth place at the UNCG Bridgestone Golf Collegiate Sunday on the par 72, 7,212-yard Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. A three-year starter for the Rams, Sargent shot 73 and 71 on back-to-back days of the rain-shortened affair to finish even for the tournament. It was Sargent's best showing of the fall season and the second top-five finish of his VCU career.
Thursday's CAA weekly award is the first of Sargent's career and the second for a Ram this year. Junior Marc Dobias (Lausanne, Switzerland) captured the honor on Sept. 14.
In 11 competitive rounds this fall, Sargent is averaging a career-best 73.45 strokes.
Sargent and VCU will close out their fall slate Nov. 6-7 at the Amelia Island Intercollegiate in Amelia Island, Fla.
