RICHMOND, Va. – It's safe to say that Marc Dobias' career is off to a solid start.

One day after leading Virginia Commonwealth University to fourth at the 42nd Annual Marshall Invitational, his first tournament as a Ram, Dobias was named Colonial Athletic Association Co-Golfer of the Week, along with Delaware's Ben Conroy.
A junior transfer from Midland Community College, Dobias shot 7-under (68-69-69=206) at the 54-hole tournament to place fourth. He finished two strokes off the pace of tournament medalist Alex Redfield of Ohio State.
Dobias was steady throughout the tournament, which was held at the par 71, 6,573-yard Guyan Golf and Country Club. He was the only player in the field to post three straight sub-70 rounds and carded the seventh-most birdies in the tournament with 13. Dobias also averaged 3.88 strokes and finished 4-under on par 4s, the fourth-best in the field.
This summer, Dobias reached the round of 16 at the British Amateur Match Play Championships and represented his native Switzerland at the World University Game in China.
Dobias and the Rams will return to action Sept. 26-27 at the VCU Shootout at the Hermitage Country Club in Manakin-Sabot, Va.
