TRIO OF RAMS EARN ALL-CAA GOLF HONORS
HOT SPRINGS, Va. – Each of Virginia Commonwealth University's three seniors hauled in an All-Colonial Athletic Association honor Friday night at the league's annual championship banquet.
Rafael Campos (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) and Lanto Griffin (Blacksburg, Va.) each received first team honors, while Vincent Nadeau (Heritage Hill, Okla.) was selected to the second team. All three are currently participating with the Rams at the CAA Championships at The Homestead.
For Campos, it's the third time he's been named All-CAA First Team, and it's his fourth All-CAA selection, overall. This season, the senior has booked a pair of top-15 finishes, including his third-place showing at the Maryland Intercollegiate Sept. 12-13. Campos' stroke average of 73.00 is second-best on the team and the lowest of his illustrious VCU career.
Griffin's selection gives him back-to-back first team honors. The reigning CAA Player of the Year has logged three top-five finishes this season, including his second place result last week at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate. His per-round stroke average of 72.93 leads the Rams.
Nadeau returns to the All-CAA squad after a one-year hiatus. He earned a first team nod in 2008. This season, Nadeau has placed in the top 15 at four tournaments. Nadeau is averaging 73.57 strokes per round this season.
VCU's senior trio looks to lead the Rams to a second consecutive CAA Championship this weekend at The Homestead's Upper Cascades.
