HOW IT HAPPENED

  • VCU needed only 1:21 to score its first goal as Pereira hit in  a pass from Field to go up 1-0.
  • The Rams doubled their lead in the 18th minute as Williams scored on a pass from Sturm.
  • Lock Haven cut the VCU lead to just 2-1 after Dana-Lee de Gannes stole a pass and scored from just inside the circle.
  • The Rams gave themselves a two goal margin in the 29th minute as van Hijfte collected a loose ball in the circle and found the top corner of the cage to make it 3-1.
  • Elliot made four saves in the second half to preserve the 3-1 lead.
