RICHMOND, Va. – Emily McNamara has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Field Hockey player of the week after scoring four goals and recording an assist in VCU's two victories last weekend.
McNamara recorded a goal in the Rams' 3-1 win over Richmond on Friday. It was the first victory for VCU over the Spiders since 2010. McNamara followed up that performance with a hat trick and an assist against LIU Brooklyn on Sunday in the Rams' 9-1 victory.
The nine goals scored were tied for the second-most in program history and the most goals scored by VCU in a single game since an 11-1 win over Longwood in 2004.
McNamara currently leads the Atlantic 10 in goals scored with eight and also ranks in the top five nationally in points per game and goals per game. McNamara was named to the A-10 Preseason All-Conference team after being named to the All-Atlantic 10 Conference First Team last season in which she broke the school record for individual points in a season with 45.
