CHANDLER, Ariz. – The Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I All-Region squads were announced on Tuesday with 160 student-athletes receiving either first or second-team recognition across the five regions.
VCU's Emily McNamara was named to the All-South Region Second Team. McNamara adds to her postseason accolades after being named to the All-Atlantic 10 First Team.
The sophomore forward had a record year for the Rams as she broke VCU's single-season record for points with 45. McNamara scored 18 goals on the season which rank second in school history while her nine assists are tied for ninth. McNamara led the A-10 in shots per game at 5.94 and finished second in the conference in points, 19 ahead of third place. She also ranked second in the A-10 in goals scored and tied for seventh in assists.
McNamara was also named the A-10 Player of the Week on Oct. 31 after she scored two hat tricks in wins over Saint Louis and Missouri State.
The All-Region lists included the Mid-Atlantic, Mideast, Northeast, South and West. The All-Region squads consisted of 66 seniors or graduate students, 46 juniors, 33 sophomores and 15 freshmen.
