RICHMOND, Va.- Seniors Emilie Soares and Stephanie DeMasi were named to the VaSID All-State Second Team, adding to a long list of honors for the two players.  Soares was the lone Ram to be named to the Atlantic-10 first team, while DeMasi was named to the second team. 

Soares enjoyed one of the best offensive seasons in VCU field hockey history with a team-leading 14 goals and eight assists, both of which ranked in the top-10 in the conference. Those totals also rank in the top-10 in single-season VCU history. She was named Atlantic 10 player of the week in October. 

DeMasi has been a stalwart on VCU's backline for four years, but has also made an impact on the offensive end, breaking the school record for career assists, with 28. This year, she's posted career highs in goals (5) and assists (8), en route to tallying 18 points for the Rams. Twice, DeMasi was named Atlantic 10 player of the week, and, she was named to the NFHCA All Star Game. 

In the classroom, Soares has posted a 3.64 cumulative grade-point-average in Mechanical Engineering; and, DeMasi has a near-perfect 3.97 cumulative GPA in Health, Physical Education & Exercise Science.  Both players were named to the conference All-Academic Team.
