DEMASI EARNS SECOND ATLANTIC 10 CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARD

RICHMOND, Va. – Playing her final two games on the turf at Cary Street Field, VCU Field Hockey senior Stephanie DeMasi made sure that her lasting memory at the corner of Cary and Harrison was a good one.

DeMasi tallied the game-winner against La Salle on Sunday and assisted on the game-winner on Friday against Saint Joseph's to lead the Rams to two victories. Those two victories secured the Black & Gold's berth in the Atlantic 10 Tournament for the second straight season.

On Friday, DeMasi inserted a corner that found its way to teammate Kendell Combs for the only goal in a 1-0 win over Saint Joseph's. On Sunday, DeMasi found the back of the cage in overtime, deflecting a shot from Combs past La Salle's goalkeeper to secure a 3-2 win.

For the season, DeMasi has scored four goals to go with eight assists, and is third on the Rams in points.  The Rams finished the regular season at 10-9, and 4-3 in conference play.

With the pair of wins, VCU earned the fourth seed in the A-10 Tournament, and will play the tournament's top seeded team in UMass on Friday at 2 p.m. in Amherst, Mass.
