The VCU field hockey team had one of the most successful seasons in school history. With a young team out on the turf, The Rams are poised to make successful seasons a habit.  Freshman Stephanie DeMasi was a key part of the team, finishing the season with two goals and seven assists.

VCU Athletics Student Assistant Andrew Phillips, caught up with DeMasi, to get know how she spends her time off of the turf.

AP: Why did you decide to come to VCU?

SD: I decided to come to VCU for many different reasons. I really loved my visit and the young and excited coaching staff really appealed to me. I knew this was going to be a school where I was going to get a good education and be a part of an amazing team.

AP: What is the best thing about VCU's campus?

SD: The best thing about campus is the city atmosphere and that I can pretty much walk everywhere. Except for Chelsea Hill's house, I have to drive there.

AP: If you could travel to any place in the world where would it be?

SD: If I could travel anywhere I would visit Italy. It is so beautiful there and I'm Italian so I love knowing and learning the culture and background of the country.

AP: Favorite thing to do on team road trips?

My favorite thing to do on team road trips is to go shopping!

AP: What other VCU sports team would be on, if you were not a member of the VCU field hockey team?

I would probably be on the soccer team. I played soccer growing up and loved it.

AP: What actress would you play in a movie?

I would be Reece Witherspoon in Legally Blonde!

AP: Who is a better field hockey player: Coach McQuade or Coach Karl?

SD: Have no idea who is better, they are both amazing.
