BOTTERI AIDS NATIONAL TEAM RUN AT OUTDOOR OPEN

PARKER FORD, Pa. – Virginia Commonwealth University rising sophomore Megan Botteri (Mount Bethel, Pa.) recently added another superlative to her ever-expanding resume.

Botteri played keeper for USA Field Hockey's Indoor National Team when it captured the 2010 Women's Open Indoor Tournament March 13-14 at The Training Center in Parker Ford. The USA squad topped nine other clubs during the two-day event.

Team USA was dominant throughout, outscoring its opponents 33-4 on the way to a perfect 4-0 mark in pool play. The U.S. topped club Rising Sun Oz, 11-1 and hammered Team Philly by a 10-0 margin. In their playoff match with runner-up Red Rose, Botteri's USA National Team routed the previously unbeaten squad, 6-0.

In January, Botteri traveled to Denmark with the USA National Team for the 2010 Wasa Cup, where it placed fourth.

Botteri started all 17 matches for VCU last fall. She made 89 saves between the pipes and posted a 2.14 goals-against-average for the 8-9 Rams.
