RICHMOND, Va. – Four NCAA Tournament teams, including 2016 National Champion Coastal Carolina and 2018 College World Series participant North Carolina, highlight VCU's 2019 baseball slate, released Friday.

"This schedule is consistent with the schedules we've played in the past. As always, we try to test ourselves early to prepare us for the challenges of A-10 play," said seventh-year VCU Head Coach Shawn Stiffler.

VCU will kick off the 2019 campaign on Feb. 15 in Conway, S.C. when it takes on Coastal Carolina. The Rams' season-opening road trip will also include stops at reigning ACC Champion North Carolina (Feb. 20), as well as Maryland (Feb. 17).

The Black and Gold will also venture to Wofford (Feb. 23), as well as Orlando, Fla. March 15-17 for a three-game set at AAC contender Central Florida.

"Taking road trips down to Coastal Carolina, Wofford, as well UCF, will put our guys into some hostile environments. As always geography makes it convenient to put together a very challenging non-conference slate and play some of the best in the region," added Stiffler.

The Rams will host Maryland in their 2019 home opener at The Diamond on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 3 p.m. In-state foes VMI (March 26), Old Dominion (April 16) and Virginia (April 30) are among those who pay the Black and Gold visits on the Boulevard this spring.

VCU's Atlantic 10 Conference schedule includes home series with UMass, Davidson, Fordham and George Washington, while the Rams will make league road trips to La Salle, Richmond, Saint Joseph's and George Mason.

Fordham will serve as host for the 2019 A-10 Championship May 22-25 at Houlihan Park in the Bronx, N.Y.

VCU has won at least 34 games each of the past five seasons. The Rams were 34-23 last spring, including 14-10 in the Atlantic 10. VCU returns a number of regulars, including Freshman All-American outfielder Hogan Brown (Virginia Beach, Va.) and closer Mac McCarty (Port Orchard, Wash.), who led the A-10 with 16 saves last season.
