RAMS TABBED SECOND IN PRESEASON ATLANTIC 10 BASEBALL COACHES POLL

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – After its first season in the Atlantic 10 VCU baseball has been tabbed to finish second in year two.

After capping off back-to-back winning seasons the Rams were selected second, picking up 122 points and one first place vote in this year's pre-season poll.

The Black and Gold return both its top hitter and pitcher from last spring's 28-26 team.

VCU's lineup will include senior standouts Joey Cujas and Bill Cullen. The duo produced 68 RBIs and 70 runs. In their three years in the Black and Gold jersey Cujas and Cullen have racked up 327 starts.

On the mound the Rams will turn to a third year starter Heath Dwyer. The junior picked up 10 wins in his first two years in Richmond, Va. This past year Dwyer win seven games en route to a 7-6 record with a 2.78 ERA.

The Rams finished behind reigning Atlantic 10 regular season and tournament champion Saint Louis, who took all but one first place vote.

VCU begins its season on Friday in the Battle in Midtown hosted by Georgia Tech when they take on Radford. Opening pitch for Friday's contest is slated for 12 noon at Russ Chandler Stadium.
