RICHMOND, Va. – VCU senior second baseman Jordan Weymouth (pictured right) has inked a professional contract with the Borgerhout Squirrels of Belgium's top professional league.
"I'm excited to have the experience not only to play baseball in Europe, but be able to travel and see new places," Weymouth said. "Although I am going to Belgium to play, I still have the hopes and ambitions to get picked up by professional team in the states."
Weymouth, who spent two seasons with the Rams, started more than 100 games, hitting .285 with 18 doubles, three triples, five homeruns and 46 RBIs. This season, Weymouth, hit .296 collecting 53 hits, eight doubles, a triple and three homeruns.
The Paradise Valley, Arizona native joins the Borgerhout Squirrels in mid-season. The Squirrels are already out to a 13-0 start and are in first place in the East Division.
