NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Freshman outfielder James Bunn and junior infielder Joey Cujas were honored with Atlantic 10 Conference postseason awards, announced Tuesday by the league office. Bunn received all-rookie recognition, while Cujas was named to the all-academic squad.
Bunn, who played in all but one game for the Rams in 2013, finished his rookie campaign hitting .256 with 52 hits, seven doubles and 14 RBIs. The Princeton, N.J. native also showed his presence defensively, committing just one error, good for a .990 field percentage, with four outfield assists.
Meanwhile, Cujas earned all-academic honors after a terrific semester on the field and in the classroom. The Midlothian, Va. native led the Rams in hits (72), doubles (16), RBIs (40) and total bases (91). On defense, the business management major sported a .944 fielding percentage, committing just eight errors in 81 chances at third base.
The Rams concluded the 2013 season with a sweep of cross-town rival Richmond May 16-18, finishing 28-26 overall.
