THREE RAMS NAMED TO PROSPECT WATCHLIST BY PERFECT GAME

RICHMOND, Va. – Summer may officially be over, but three members of the VCU Baseball program recently received some good news for their impressive performances throughout the summer of 2011.

Junior pitchers Ryan Farrar, Blake Hauser and Kyle Haynes were named to the Top Prospects Watchlist for their respective summer wood bat leagues by perfectgame.org

Farrar was named the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League's third best prospect after having a breakout season for Youse's Maryland Orioles. The Mechanicsville, Va., native appeared in a team-high 14 games for the Orioles while posting a 1-0 record with five saves. Farrar pitched 24 innings, fanned 36 batters and posted a 1.36 ERA.

Hauser played in one of the premier collegiate leagues in the country, the Cape Cod Baseball League. The Chesterfield, Va., native was named the league's 18th best prospect after recording a 1-0 record with three saves for the 2011 Cape Cod League Champion, Harwich Mariners. Hauser appeared in 15 games, struck out 19 batters and posted a 2.60 ERA.

Haynes was named the Coastal Plains League's ninth best prospect after pitching for the Peninsula Pilots. The Stafford, Va., native made just two starts for the Pilots and earned a 1-1 record. Haynes pitched 11 innings, struck out 11 batters and limited opposing batters to a paltry .179 batting average. Haynes recorded a team-high six wins for the Rams throughout the 2011 campaign.
