2011 VCU Baseball Schedule (PDF)

RICHMOND, Va. – The defending Colonial Athletic Association champion Virginia Commonwealth University baseball team has released its 56-game schedule for the 2011 season, which begins Feb. 18 when the Rams host Fordham in a three-game series at The Diamond.

Highlighting the schedule is a home-and-home series with perennial national power University of Virginia as well as home-and-home games with in-state foes Liberty, Longwood, Norfolk State, cross-town rival Richmond and VMI.  VCU will also welcome Holy Cross and Princeton to The Diamond for a three-team tournament March 11-14.

VCU, which plays 31 games at home this season, opens the CAA slate when it welcomes James Madison to The Diamond for a three-game series March 18-20.  The Rams also host Old Dominion (April 1-3), Northeastern (April 15-17), Delaware (April 29-May1) and Hofstra (May 12-14) in league play, and travel to CAA opponents Georgia State (March 25-27), George Mason (April 8-10), William & Mary (April 22-24), Towson (May 6-8) and UNC Wilmington (May 19-21). 

After hosting Fordham to open the season, VCU entertains Monmouth for a three-game set Feb. 25-27.  The Rams then travel to Norfolk State (March 1) and Presbyterian (March 4-6).  VCU hosts Longwood on March 9 and travels to High Point on March 16 prior to opening conference play.

The Rams battle Virginia twice in a six-day span with the first game in Charlottesville on April 26 and then face the Cavaliers at home on May 3. 

City bragging rights will be on the line with a pair of games against Richmond in the Black & Blue Classic beginning April 13 at Pitt Field.  The Spiders visit The Diamond on May 10.
