RECORD-BREAKING REYNAERT LEADS RAMS AT NAVY INVITE
Newcomer breaks school record in first meet in Black and Gold

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Any worries about how sophomore Manuel Reynaert (Saint-Pol-sur-Mer, France) would adjust to his new environment at Virginia Commonwealth University went out the window after just one meet with the Rams.

The 2008 Olympian put his talents on display at the Navy Invitational, the Rams’ 2008 indoor opener.

Reynaert started the meet with a victory in the 60-meter dash and broke a 13-year old school record with a time of 6.78. He bested the old record of 6.82, which was set in 1995 by Mustapha Jinadu.

He rounded out his day with a fourth place showing in the 200-meter dash with a blistering time of 22.10.

Sophomore Brian Wallace (Portsmouth, Va.) showed that he will be a force to be reckoned with this season with a second-place showings in the long jump, 23’ 3 ½”, and the triple jump, 46’ 2”.

As a team, the Black and Gold posted five top-three finishes and 11 top-five finishes.

Sophomore Allan Moody (Woodbridge, Va.) and freshman Chris Kourlesis (Richmond, Va.) rounded out the top-three showings with a second-place in the high jump (6’ 4 ¾”) and third place in the triple jump (45’ 8”), respectively.
