KROCSKO STRONG IN BLACK & GOLD DEBUT
Full Bracket
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – First impressions can be a make-or-break situation.
If that’s the case, freshman Krisztin Krocsko (Budapest, Hungary) is in good shape as he rolled to a 2-1 record to lead the Virginia Commonwealth University men’s tennis squad at the 2009 UVA Fall Classic this past weekend.
Krocsko got it started with a hard-fought 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 victory over Iain Atkinson of Wake Forest in the first round of the A-2 Singles Bracket. The newcomer made a run at 56th-ranked Lee Singer of Virginia, but fell 6-3, 6-1. He then bounced back for a dominating 6-3, 6-0 performance over Phillip Nemec of Elon to round out the weekend.
Sophomore Filip Svensson (Angelholm, Sweden) got off to a strong start with a stellar performance over fourth-seeded Jeremy Bonnevalle in the B-Singles bracket (6-2, 2-0, ret.). Two tough losses against Benedikt Lindheim of Nebraska (6-4, 6-2) and third-seeded Milo Johnson of Virginia (7-5, 6-4) concluded the second-year standout’s weekend.
The Rams are back in action next weekend at the ODU Fall Invitational.
