SVENSSON, KROCSKO LEAD RAMS AT ODU COLLEGIATE INVITE

NORFOLK, Va. – If the fall season is any sort of preview for the spring, sophomore Filip Svensson (Angelholm, Sweden) and freshman Krisztian Krocsko (Budapest, Hungary) will be a huge part of the success of the Virginia Commonwealth University men’s tennis squad.

The youthful duo combined for a 4-2 singles mark and a 2-1 doubles mark to led the Rams at this past weekend’s Old Dominion Collegiate Invitational.

Svensson posted his second straight strong weekend with a 2-1 mark on the weekend, with straight set victories over Mehdi Rhazali of Drexel and Austin Longacre of Delaware. The second-year standout smoked Matt Gordan of Coastal Carolina in the first set, 6-0, then suffered a 6-4 loss and dropped the tiebreaker to end his weekend.

For the second time this fall, Krocsko was stellar with hard-fought victories over Dmitry Vlaskin of Coastal Carolina and Davy Sum of Campbell to start the weekend. The newcomer then ran into Jamie Whitford of William & Mary, who dropped Krocsko in straight sets to conclude the weekend.

The duo then joined together to tally doubles victories to reach the semi-finals before falling to the eventual champions from Delaware.
