FORMER RAM, FRANK MOSER, COMPETES AT WIMBLEDON
WIMBLEDON, England – One of the world’s most prestigious athletic competitions took off this past weekend and the Virginia Commonwealth University men’s tennis program was a part of it.
Former Ram Frank Moser teamed with Australia’s Chris Guccione in the Qualifying Round for Wimbledon Doubles over the weekend.
The duo dropped the first set 7-5 to India’s Prakash Amritraj and Pakistan’s Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi before bouncing back to win the second set 7-5. Moser and Guccione’s stay at Wimbledon after dropping the third set 6-1.
Moser has now played in two of the three Grand Slam Tournaments having competed in the French Open late last month.
A two-time All-American during his time at VCU, Moser helped the Rams earn a spot in the only National Championship Appearance in school history when the Black & Gold battled perennial power Stanford in the 2000 NCAA National Championship.
During his senior year in 2001, Moser teamed with Florian Marquardt to make a run into the quarterfinals of the NCAA Doubles Championship.
