ISRAEL, KONSTANTINOVA NAMED ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT
RICHMOND, Va. – Virginia Commonwealth University seniors Viktoria Konstantinova (Hanskovo, Bulgaria) and Alex Israel (Marseille, France) were named District 3 All-Academic Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Konstantinova and Israel were selected for second team honors in the At-Large category, which includes men’s and women’s tennis, golf and lacrosse.

Thursday’s award was the latest of an impressive academic and athletic career at VCU for Konstantinova. A business management major with minors in economics and psychology, Konstantinova carries a 3.97 grade-point-average.

Earlier this year, Konstantinova was named Student of the Year by the VCU School of Business. Additionally, she was named the Colonial Athletic Association’s women’s tennis Scholar Athlete in 2007.

On the court, Konstantinova went 14-14 this season in singles play and was 68-49 in her four-year career.

A marketing major, Israel compiled a 3.89 GPA during his VCU tenure. This season, Israel went 19-7 in singles action for the CAA champions.
