WYSS’ WINNING WEEK LANDS HIM RAM OF THE WEEK HONORS
Senior picks up first victory of the season at Greensboro Invite
RICHMOND, Va. – The Virginia Commonwealth University men’s cross country team turned to its senior leader to lead them to victory at the 25th-annual Greensboro Invitational as veteran Jay Wyss (Richmond, Va.) picked up the overall title, which helped the Rams pick up the team title. His outstanding weekend has landed him McDonald’s Ram of the Week honors.
Wyss covered the course in 26 minutes, 15 seconds to win comfortably by 15 seconds. He led five different Rams in the top-10 at the 18-team event.
The Rams had 27 team points to finish ahead of North Carolina Central and North Carolina A&T.
The veteran from J.R. Tucker High School had finished second behind Mutisya in all the other meets for the Black and Gold this year.
Wyss and the Rams are back in action this weekend as they travel north to Lehigh University to compete in the Paul Short Invitational on Friday, Oct. 3rd. |
