Gavin’s New Monogram? R.O.Y.: Gavin made his one year with the Red Foxes count, earning Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Co-Rookie of the Year honors. He led Marist in scoring with a 12.3 points-per-game average and went 73-for-189 (.386) from beyond the arc.

Hoarding the Honors: Along with the MAAC accolades, Gavin was also selected to the Freshman Mid-Major All-America Team by CollegeInsider.com, as well as Honorable Mention Mid-Major All-Freshman by CollegeHoops.net.

Pleading the Fifth: The MAAC Rookie of the Week award nearly changed its name to the “Jay Gavin Award” after he was selected for the honor five times in 2007-08.

Donating to Charity: The charity stripe was a place Gavin visited frequently, and he made it count. He led Marist in free-throw attempts (109) and percentage (.771).

Doublin’ Down for Deuce-Deuce: Double-figures became standard for Gavin at Marist as the Seat Pleasant, Md., native led the squad with 22 such performances.

The High School Days

Another Monogram for Gavin… M-V-P: Gavin was Bishop McNamara’s leader and he proved it on the court, earning MVP honors during his senior campaign.

Legend of the League and Master of the Met: First-Team All-League and Third-Team All-Met were accolades that Gavin earned during his tenure with the Mustangs.

Etching His Name Among the Greats: Gavin concluded his four-year career at Bishop McNamara as the seventh all-time leading scorer in Mustangs history with 857 points.
