ALL-AMERICAN HONORS ALL AROUND FOR MAYNOR
Senior named to three All-American teams, VaSID State Player of the Year

RICHMOND, Va. – Along with becoming the all-time leading scorer and all-time leader in assists at Virginia Commonwealth University, senior Eric Maynor (Raeford, N.C.) has asserted himself on the national stage throughout this past 2008-2009 men’s basketball season.

His 22.4 points and 6.2 assists per game led the Black & Gold to its second CAA Championship and second NCAA Tournament appearance in three seasons.

For his hard work and leadership, Maynor has been recognized around the country as one of the nation’s best guards by being named to three different All-American teams, as well as the unanimous choice for the VaSID State Player of the Year.

Just in the past month, Maynor was named to Sports Illustrated’s All-America Second Team, NaismithLives.com’s All-America Third Team and Honorable Mention All-American by the Associated Press.

Along with all those national honors, the point guard took home his second consecutive CAA Player of the Year award, First-Team All-CAA honors, CAA Tournament MVP honors, First-Team NABC All-District honors and the Richmond Times-Dispatch State Player of the Year.

Let’s hope that his parents are able to find a trophy case big enough for all of Maynor’s accolades.
