Jeremy Shyatt
Director of Basketball Operations
Jeremy Shyatt is in his second season as Director of Men’s Basketball Operations at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Shyatt is responsible for coordinating the Rams’ travel arrangements, directing the Anthony Grant Basketball Camp, supervising the managerial and graduate assistant staff, as well as other administrative duties.
Prior to joining Anthony Grant’s staff at VCU, Shyatt held the same title at East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C. from 2005-07. While with ECU, Shyatt’s duties included team travel, video coordination, film breakdown as well as serving as men’s basketball camp director.
From 2003-05, Shyatt, the oldest son of former Clemson coach and current University of Florida assistant coach Larry Shyatt, was a volunteer assistant coach at the University of South Carolina while pursuing a master's degree.
In addition, Shyatt served as Director of Boys and Girls Summer Day Camps with the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers from 2002-05. Shyatt has also worked for the Five-Star Basketball Camp in Coraopolis, Pa. during the summers of 2003 and 2004 as Camp Commissioner and Counselor.
Shyatt earned a varsity letter as a freshman on the Clemson basketball team in 1999-2000. The following season he began his coaching career, serving as a student assistant coach for the next three seasons. He was named to the All-ACC Honor Roll in 2000.
A 1999 graduate of D.W. Daniel High School in Clemson, S.C., Shyatt earned three letters in basketball (including a year in Laramie, Wy.) and was named all-area in 1999 by Easley Progress and Anderson Independent Mail. In addition, he was named Academic All-State by the High School Sports Report.
Shyatt received a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Clemson in 2003 and earned his masters in advertising from South Carolina in 2005.
Basketball is very much a family affair for the Shyatts. In addition to Jeremy’s father, younger brother Geoff, 24, is currently an assistant coach at Western Kentucky in Bowling Green, Ky.
