Yousef Hattar enters his first year at VCU in 2018-19 as a graduate assistant and serves as the primary contact for men's soccer as well as the men's and women's tennis programs.
Prior to VCU, Hattar attended Old Dominion University in which he earned a B.S. in sport management in 2018 with a minor in business. While at ODU, he worked with the Athletic Communications department as a student assistant to the Assistant Directors of Athletic Communication, serving as a secondary contact for men's and women's tennis as well as the women's lacrosse program. He also worked as a public address announcer and statistician for the Conference USA Women's Tennis Championships.
Hattar served as a communications intern with the Washington Redskins training camp in 2017 and continued to intern in a gameday capacity for all 2017 Redskins home games. In that role, he helped with the distribution of stats and the recording and transcribing of press conferences and interviews.
As an underclassman at ODU, Hattar served as the managing editor for a publication he and several classmates created, The Monarch Premier. He served as managing editor for the publication, conducted interviews with coaches and athletes, and wrote articles. Hattar was also a sports journalist intern for RVA GameBreak and the Village News. With those outlets, he covered multiple high school and collegiate sporting events across the Chesterfield and Richmond areas to produce stories, work with social media and also serve as a writer. Hattar also served as a the primary writer for the NBA with Fox Sports Radio 1340 AM. Hattar also worked with ODU's Intramural Sports department as a manager and official in which he supervised and mentored 30 other officials.
Hattar is currently pursuing a master's degree from VCU's Center for Sport Leadership. Hattar currently resides in his hometown of Chester, Virginia.
