The VCU Women's Soccer program welcomes Kate Ward as Graduate Assistant to the coaching staff in 2017.
From Atlanta, Ga., Ward joins VCU after graduating from Appalachian State University in 2016, Magna Cum Laude with a bachelors of science in Cellular Molecular Biology. Ward is now enrolled at the VCU Center for Sports Leadership where she will be assisting the women’s soccer team.
With her NSCAA Diploma, Ward has spent the past two years volunteering her time to coach at the Atlanta School for the Deaf as well as St Pius X Catholic HS in Atlanta.
Ward was a member of Appalachian State Women’s soccer program from 2012-2016. She also has been a member of the U.S Deaf Women’s National Team since 2009, where she has won two deaf Olympic medals and two deaf World Cup titles.
With the experience obtained from working alongside Head Coach Martin, Ward’s future goals include continuing to pursue a coaching career as well as to continue to be an advocate for awareness of disability sports.
