McLaurin joined VCU Athletics as the Director of Human Resources on August 20, 2012, and she was promoted to the Assistant Athletic Director for Human Resources and Student Services in the summer of 2015.
Previously, McLaurin worked in VCU’s central Human Resources Office as an HR Generalist, where her primary responsibility was providing a full range of human resource consultation services to managers and personnel administrators within the university.
She has been with VCU since March of 2008, and in that time has held several HR roles. McLaurin started as an HR Operations Technician in VCU HR’s Operations Division, and then served as the HR Manager for the VCU Department of Psychiatry before returning to the VCU HR Department in the HR Generalist role for the second time. Prior to joining VCU, she worked as an HR Assistant for the VA Department of Conversation & Recreation.
McLaurin served on VCU’s Staff Senate for the past three years, and is currently serving on the Staff Senate Executive Committee as the Membership Chair. For the 2013-14 academic year, she was VCU’s Staff Board of Visitor’s Representative and is currently a member of VCU’s Great Place Initiative Advisory Committee.
McLaurin has been a member of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) since 2012. In 2004, she graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a dual major in Marketing and Information Systems. Additionally, she received a Master of Business Administration from the New York Institute of Technology in 2007 with a concentration in Human Resources Management. In 2013, she earned the nationally recognized Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification.
McLaurin is a proud member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and resides in Richmond with her husband Anthony and children Anthony Jr., Camren and Noah Brielle.
