Wesley Stephens is from Alexandria, Virginia, where he attended West Potomac High School. Upon graduating, he enrolled at La Salle University before transferring to Howard University in Washington, DC. Wesley graduated from Howard in 2014 with a Bachelors in Journalism and a minor in Spanish. During his time at Howard, Wesley was a 3-year student-athlete as a member of the Men’s Cross Country and Track & Field team, where he was a 5-time Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference qualifier and currently holds the school record in the Decathlon.
Wesley spent the last 4 years teaching high school and serving as a head cross country and track & field coach in Las Vegas, Nevada. During his tenure as head coach, Wesley has coached 9 individual regional champions, 6 individual state champions, 11 national qualifiers and led Desert Pines High School to their first ever state men’s championship in track & field in 2016. Wesley currently holds a USATF Level 1 certification and works as a Graduate Assistant to VCU Cross Country and Track & Field with an emphasis on the middle distance and distance events.
