Ryan Metzger enters her fourth season as an Assistant Sports Performance Coach with the Rams after previously serving as member of the University of Kentucky Strength and Conditioning staff.
Metzger, who was a gymnast at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, earned her Bachelor's in Exercise Science and Health Promotion in 2011. In addition, she also served as an intern strength coach during her senior year, working primarily with Football.
During her time at Kentucky, Metzger worked with several programs including football, women's basketball, volleyball and women's soccer. Metzger also earned her master's in Exercise Physiology while at Kentucky.
Metzger has competed on the national level in weightlifting, including finishing in first place in the snatch at the 2014 University National Weightlifting Championship. She is a competitive, national-level Olympic weightlifter for East Coast Gold Weightlifting in the 55kg class. Metzger ranks among the top 10 in the nation in the 55kg class and also holds the Virginia State record in snatch, clean and jerk and total.
Metzger currently holds SCCC and CSCS certifications through the CSCCa and NSCA. She is also a certified Level 1 Sports Performance Coach through USAW, and is FMS Level 1 certified, FCS certified as well as being First Aid/CPR/AED certified.
