Ryan McLane was named VCU’s Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing on June 17, 2013.  Ryan oversees all advertising and promotional efforts for all 16 of VCU’s sports programs, athletic department spirit squads, ticketing and branding campaigns as well as fulfilling revenue generating partnerships. 

McLane comes to VCU after spending two years as the Director of Athletics Marketing for Utah State University.  In this role, Ryan managed and implemented all advertising and promotional efforts for the USU Athletics Department along with directing all home athletic events and maintaining the department’s website and social media platforms.  During his tenure, Ryan was intricately involved in a department rebrand, in conjunction with NIKE, Inc., releasing new athletic logos and trademarks in April of 2012.  He was also charged with overseeing the operation and content creation efforts for all in-venue digital signage; including new digital signage and video boards installed during the summer of 2012.  With Utah State’s 2013 move to the Mountain West Conference, McLane developed all aspects of the “Join the Climb” marketing campaign aimed at increasing department revenue through ticket sales and fundraising efforts.    

Prior to Utah State, Ryan spent two years as a member of the University of Oklahoma Athletics Marketing Department.  Ryan assisted with all marketing, promotional and event presentation efforts for OU’s athletic programs; specifically overseeing the 2009 wresting and 2010 baseball campaigns as well as program planning and operation of the “Sooner Nation” student attendance initiative.  During his time at OU, Ryan directed games and surrounding events of the 2010 NCAA Baseball Championship Regional Round and the 2011 NCAA Volleyball Championship Regional Round.  While working for OU, McLane also earned his Masters Degree in Adult and Higher Education; emphasizing in Intercollegiate Athletics Administration.  

Ryan graduated from Robert Morris University in 2009, where he earned a Bachelor of Science – Business Administration degree; majoring in Sport Management.  Ryan also worked for the RMU Athletics Department; serving as an Athletics Marketing & Promotions Intern from 2008-2009 and a student volunteer assistant in 2007.

Originally from Pittsburgh, PA., Ryan now resides in Richmond.
