Year: First season at VCU
Cody Henry is in his first season as VCU Women's Basketball's video coordinator. Henry, who has worked with VCU Head Coach Marlene Stollings since her time as associate head coach at Ole Miss, joins the Rams after serving as a graduate assistant coach at Winthrop in 2011-12. In his new role, Henry is responsible for all video aspects of the program, including editing, film exchange, and highlights, while also coordinating the male practice team, assisting with mail outs and scouting reports, as well as serving as camp liaison.
“I am extremely happy to add Cody Henry to our staff,” said Stollings. “He is exceptionally bright and has an incredible drive to succeed. Cody brings a tireless work ethic and tremendous skill set for this position. The entire VCU family will gravitate toward him.”
Henry first joined Stollings’ staff as a male practice player at Ole Miss in 2008. His efforts did not go unnoticed as Stollings invited him to join her very first staff at Winthrop a season ago, where he played an integral role in all facets of the program with an emphasis in video.
"I am thrilled to be on Coach Stollings’ staff,” Henry added. “She is an exceptional leader and will take VCU to many A-10 championships and NCAA appearances. She has been my mentor for the past few years, taking me from a practice player at Ole Miss, to a graduate assistant at Winthrop, to Video Coordinator at VCU. I am very proud and blessed to be working with her. This opportunity to join the VCU family is super exciting. VCU is a great school, with amazing people, and an outstanding program."
Henry, who is currently pursuing his Master’s degree at VCU’s Center for Sport Leadership, earned his Bachelor of Business degree in Banking and Finance, Managerial Finance and Real Estate from Ole Miss in May of 2010. In addition to serving as a practice player for the women’s basketball program, he managed suite attendants as an intern for the Ole Miss Skybox. Henry was recognized with numerous accolades, including Gamma Beta Phi Honors Society, Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society as well as being named to the Chancellor’s Honor Roll and the Dean’s Honor Roll during his time in Oxford, Miss.
Prior to his arrival at Ole Miss, Henry played basketball for Otero Junior College in La Junta, Colo. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Otero in May 2008 with an Associates Degree in Science, while earning Academic All-America status as well as Academic All-Region honors that same year.
