Former student-athlete Vera Chistova was named VCU’s director of compliance in 2009.
Chistova assists in all aspects of the university’s compliance efforts for all of VCU varsity sports and student athletes, including the interpretation of NCAA and Atlantic 10 legislation, monitoring of recruiting and education of coaches, staff, athletes and boosters.

During the 2008-09 school year, Chistova served as a graduate assistant for the VCU Women’s Basketball team, where she assisted the Rams’ staff during practices and games, as well as a number of other administrative duties.
Chistova played in 88 games, including 40 starts, for the VCU women’s hoops squad from 2003-08 and averaged 4.7 points per game. She was a three-time CAA All-Academic First Team selection. In addition, Chistova was a member of Russia’s junior national basketball team from 2000-06.
Chistova, a native of St. Petersburg, Russia, earned her bachelor's in finance from VCU in 2007, as well as her Master of Business Administration in 2009.
