FORMER RAM ROLLINS FINISHES SECOND AT LEGENDS RENO-TAHOE OPEN
RENO, Nev.—Former Virginia Commonwealth University golfer John Rollins didn’t have much room for improvement entering the final day of the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open at Montreux Golf Club. The former All-American opened the fourth round in third place, but managed to improve his placing by finishing the tournament tied for second after carding a 1-under 71

Rollins finished the tournament at 11-under 277, tied with Englishman Brian Davis for second. Rollins and Davis closed seven shots behind American Parker McLachlin for the championship. Rollins finished the event with four sub-par rounds in as many days, including a second-round 66 (-6).

With his placing Sunday, Rollins earned his best finish of the year. Coupled with a ninth-place finish at the Buick Open on June 29, Rollins’ weekend effort earned him his second top-10 finish of the year. The Richmond-native earned a $264,000 payday for his finish on Sunday, giving him $955,372 in earnings for the year.

Rollins will next compete in the PGA Championship at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Township, Mich. Play begins Thursday.
