RICHMOND, Va. – Social media for fans of the VCU Rams is about to get a little more social.
VCU Athletics is proud to announce a partnership with social media innovator Tagboard. Through Tagboard, a dynamic social media hub, VCU will be able to provide a more interactive experience for users of the #LetsGoVCU hashtag on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
In recent years, Ram Nation has seen unprecedented growth, and the VCU Athletic Department is continually searching for ways to bring fans closer to the action. This most recent venture is one more way to achieve that mission.
"Tagboard is one of these young, front-of-the-curve companies that knows the value of the social media," said VCU Director of Creative Content Chris Kowalczyk. “This is a cool way to integrate social media into our website and enrich the fan experience through engagement. And this is just the beginning. The guys at Tagboard are just beginning to scratch the surface of the potential of this medium.”
Tagboard strives to "unify tags, promote standardization, and give people a better experience for discovery and interaction of social content." These goals alone provide VCU with the unique opportunity to present specific social media mentions in a visually appealing form.
"We are always seeking new opportunities to improve and innovate what we do externally, and we believe this partnership provides us a unique way to unite Ram Nation all in one place," Assistant AD for Marketing Corrie Sears said. "Tagboard provides us a platform to use in a multitude of ways, from marketing to communications to corporate sponsorships. We're excited about what the future will bring for this partnership."
Tagboard technology will be implemented immediately into VCUAthletcs.com, the official athletic website of VCU Athletics. It will be linked to the official hashtag, #LetsGoVCU, displayed at the top of the website. It will also be used in future game promotions, features and contests held by VCU Athletics.
Based in Redmond, Wash. Tagboard brings relevance and purpose to hashtags across multiple social networks by providing tools for building communities around tags. Tagboards unify tags, promote standardization, and give users a better experience for discovery and interaction. Tagboard has recently worked with the University of Washington Athletic Department to enhance the social media experience at GoHuskies.com.
