Student-Athletes pitching in to “Make a Change” and support VCU Massey Cancer Center
RICHMOND, Va.- Spare change is everywhere. In pockets of old coats, filling up the cup holders in our cars, random jars around the house are filled with nickels and dimes.
This week, the 270-plus student-athletes that make up VCU Athletics are coming together to “Make a Change” and support the VCU Massey Cancer Center. Student-athletes will be in the Student Commons on Friday, Nov.30 from 11:30 a.m.- 3 p.m., collecting spare change to go to the VCU Massey Cancer Center.
“This event is a great opportunity for VCU student-athletes to demonstrate their commitment to the University and the community as a whole,” Director of Student-Athlete Development Bo Greenwood said. “The student-athletes are able to spend time on campus helping to increase school spirit, while raising money to donate to VCU Massey Cancer Center. It's a great indication of how engaged VCU student-athletes are and also demonstrates the importance of being an active member of the University community.”
In addition to the spare change, students and members of the community can exchange old t-shirts from another college or university for a brand new VCU t-shirt, while supplies last! All the donated t-shirts will be donated back to local charities.
On top of all that, students who drop by with some spare change or a t-shirt donation will receive FREE Waffle House while supplies last!
So make a difference by “Meeting the Rams and Making a Change” on Friday, Nov. 30 at the Student Commons from 11:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.
