RICHMOND, Va. - On the Chinese calendar, 2012 was listed as the Year of the Dragon. As the year wraps up, the Chinese may look back and change it to the Year of the Ram.

During the 2012 calendar year, the 16 intercollegiate athletic programs and 270-plus student-athletes at VCU combined to post a winning percentage of .688 with 185-81-6 record. That mark is the highest in the Commonwealth of Virginia by more than five percent.

Six different Rams squad made NCAA Tournament appearances with men's basketball, men's soccer, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's track & field all earning spots.

Not only did the Black & Gold succeed on the playing field, they set new standards in the classroom as well. During the 2012 calendar year, 56.9% of the 270-plus student-athletes achieved at least a 3.0 grade-point-average, which is the highest mark in school history.

As we turn the page into 2013, VCU Athletics thanks its supporters for making all this success possible. The Rams look forward to continuing to set new standards en route to our Quest for Distinction.
