RAIN FORCES CANCELLATION OF STONY BROOK SERIES

Steady precipitation hinders field conditions

RICHMOND, Va. – As kids we are all taught a nursery rhyme that starts, “Rain, rain go away.”

The Virginia Commonwealth University baseball team is starting to recite that over and over again as the Rams were forced to cancel yet another home game, this time a doubleheader with the Seawolves of Stony Brook that was scheduled for Sunday afternoon at The Diamond.

The Rams and Seawolves were originally scheduled to play a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday, but steady precipitation throughout much of the southeast hinder the playing conditions and forced the series to be washed out.

VCU will use the rest to prepare for its busiest week of the season as Canisius and Massachusetts visit The Diamond for mid-week contests on Tuesday and Wednesday, both contests start at 6 p.m.

The Rams open up conference play this upcoming weekend with a three-game tilt at defending regular season champion, UNC Wilmington. Game time on Friday is set for 7 p.m. at Brooks Field.
