The Ram Athletic Fund held its annual donor trip December 8th and 9th. Approximately 150 VCU fans made the journey to Newark, New Jersey to watch the Men’s Basketball team take on Seton Hall in the Prudential Center, home of the NHL’s New Jersey Devils.
What had previously been two separate trips based on RAF donor giving level, this year’s event was attended by members of the Champions Society and above. Platinum and Scholarship Society members were provided the opportunity to fly up to New Jersey on the charter flight with the team and VCU Athletics administrators, while others took a double-decker bus up to the game.
On Friday night, fans spent the evening enjoying New York City, participating in a variety of activities, including going out to dinner, shopping in Little Italy, and visiting Rockefeller Center’s holiday setup.
Prior to the game on Saturday, VCU Athletics hosted a brunch in Battery Park with waterfront views of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Additionally, the athletic department partnered with the New York City chapter of the VCU Alumni Association to have a happy hour gathering at a bar located across from the arena. The group then made its way to the Prudential Center to enjoy the game, prior to returning to Richmond on Saturday night.
