The Cullather East Wing of the E.J. Wade Arena at the Stuart C. Siegel Center was christened in a ceremony on Thursday afternoon in memory of Jack Cullather’s son, Chris, and his wife, Jean.

VCU Vice President and Director of Athletics Ed McLaughlin opened the ceremony with a few remarks highlighting Jack’s longstanding contributions to VCU before he unveiled the new plaque that will permanently adorn the space.

Jack, a 1966 graduate of VCU, then took to the podium to speak about his longstanding ties to the school and spoke of both Chris and Jean. His son Chris was a sophomore at VCU when he passed away due to a brain tumor in 1992. His wife Jean passed away from brain cancer in 2003.

The plaque features a photo of Chris and Jean and an inscription stating the lasting impact they both left.
